- A fixed term contract with Jet2.com until 1st November 2010.
- A competitive Cabin Crew salary.
- Generous leave entitlement.
- First class training developed in association with The Aviation Academy.
The life Cabin Crew lead is often described as glamorous and to some extent it is. We do visit different countries every day and can meet over 450 passengers in a day, each one different. Business people, holiday makers, city breakers, children and babies each one with different needs and a different story to tell. As Cabin Crew we have to be friendly individuals with time for every passenger, ensuring that they receive the best customer service possible. Thankfully our safety knowledge is rarely put to the test for real. Before each flight our safety and first aid knowledge is checked and each crew member is responsible for maintaining their own knowledge to ensure that they are capable of dealing with any potential emergency or first aid situation should it occur.
Not quite so glamorous, we are responsible for cleaning the entire aircraft on turnarounds. This includes collecting rubbish, newspapers etc, hoovering spilt crumbs on the floor and ensuring the toilets are fresh for each flight. To ensure costs are kept to a minimum the aircraft has only a short time on the ground between flights, so generally we have to clean the aircraft within 10 minutes before the next set of passengers arrive.
A typical day can see us having to get up at 4 am, reporting for work looking like we've just stepped out of Toni and Guys. On board the aircraft, we take care of the safety of our passengers and crew, serve food and drinks, offer tax free goods for sale and ensure the aircraft is clean and tidy throughout the flight. Our working day can easily be 12 hours long and the time goes by quickly because we are always so busy. Flying can be really tiring so it's important to keep yourself fit and healthy and make sure you get plenty of rest between flights. We love our jobs and our smiles are genuine!

Please note: Any expenses or associated costs incurred as a result of attending the Selection Day will be your responsibility and no assistance will be offered to cover these expenses.
You will be assessed over the period of the morning of the selection day and if you have been unsuccessful, you will be free to leave at lunchtime.
Although this may mean you have not been successful on this occasion with your application for a place on the 5 week Cabin Crew Initial Training Course, it does not necessarily mean that you may not be able to access other programmes. You will be offered information on other courses both at The Aviation Academy and elsewhere.
If you successfully meet the minimum requirements during the Selection Day you will be notified in writing by The Aviation Academy confirming you were successful at the Selection Day and inviting to attend the 5 week Cabin Crew Initial Training Course.

You will be given information on the required dates of attendance and all costs associated with the course.
You will also be told of the actions you need to take immediately which include:
- You must apply for a Disclosure Scotland Certificate via the website (www.disclosurescotland.co.uk). The certificate can be obtained on-line and will cost you £23.00 which must be paid for by credit or debit card. It is also possible to apply for the certificate by post. (Please ask for further details). The Certificate must be dated within one month of the start of the training programme.

We require the position you held, the dates you worked for the organisation, the name and address of the organisation, the name of the Head of Human Resources or someone within the organisation who can give you a reference.
Failure to satisfactorily provide any of this information or where there are unexplained gaps in your employment/study history, this may prevent you from being able to attend the course or to have future employment with Jet2.com
Yes, the course fee is £600 per person and this is payable to Craven College. You can pay by cash, cheque, credit or debit card.
Once you are offered a place on the course, and have confirmed your intention to attend, you will be asked to pay £600.
Should you offer to pay this amount within five days this amount may be reduced to £550.
If you are unable to pay the £600, Jet2.com may offer a sponsorship to cover this fee. You will then enter into an arrangement with Jet2.com to pay back the full £600 made by monthly deductions from your pay and will be discussed with you on an individual basis.
All 5 week courses will take place at The Aviation Academy at Leeds Bradford International Airport. Most of the training will take place within The Aviation Academy building but the course also includes a visit to the Crew Room at LBA and to an aircraft located within walking distance. Some practical training will take place off site and transport will be provided from The Aviation Academy to the other site and back at no additional cost to you.
If you live out of the area and it is not feasible for you to travel easily each day you will need to consider staying overnight locally during the course. Most people will look at staying over on Monday to Thursday evenings, returning home on Friday evening and returning again on Monday morning.
An accommodation list is available which gives options such as local hotels, bed and breakfasts, home stays and some other agencies that offer accommodation.
Although we hope to be able to support you with this it is ultimately your responsibility to find your own accommodation for the duration of the course if this is it necessary.
Any expenses or associated costs incurred as a result of this will be your responsibility and no assistance will be offered to cover these expenses.
You will be trained on all essential requirements of the Cabin Crew role including the theory of flight, discipline and responsibility, communication, passenger handling, equipment, emergency procedures, flight time limitations, water survival training, Crew Resource Management (CRM), dangerous goods, security, conflict management, cabin service and sales, manual handling, first aid and in flight medical care, pilot incapacitation.
During the course you will also be trained on practical elements including fire and smoke, slide descent and water survival.
You will visit the Crew Room at LBA and during the course a Jet2.com aircraft will be available to aid understanding and familiarisation.
Outside of the course hours in the training room you will be expected to study and revise as necessary. You will be given homework by your Trainers and expected to prepare for the next day and any planned tests and assessments. You should arrive expecting to study for at least one to two hours each night.
You will be continually assessed during the course by your Trainers who will check that you are understanding and retaining the content of the course.
In addition you will undertake short tests at the end of each section to ensure you have fully understood the course to date.
If you fail an assessment or test you will be supported by your Trainer, where appropriate, you will be given an opportunity to re-take the assessment or test.
Where it is not felt possible to allow re-assessment or re-testing you will be asked to leave the course (at whatever stage you are at). The Aviation Academy will, where possible, offer you alternative courses at both LBA and elsewhere.
If you successfully reach the end of the 5 week course having completed all assessments, tests and participated fully, first of all congratulations on a job well done!
You will be invited to a brief second interview before the end of the course.
Well done on a job well done! Following successful completion of the training course you will be told that you have been successful in securing employment with Jet2.com for the 2010 Summer Season.
You will receive a letter of congratulations from The Aviation Academy and a certificate of attendance.
You will also receive a letter from the Human Resources Department at Jet2.com confirming your employment and telling you what to do next.
Only under very exceptional circumstances will refunds be given for course fees, however, consideration will be given to the circumstances, and without prejudice.
Unfortunately not. Although you will already have been trained to CAA standards elsewhere, to ensure that the course meets CAA requirements all candidates must attend for the full 5 weeks and therefore the full course fee is payable.
Appointed representatives from The Aviation Academy (Craven College) will initially process these documents but all information will be shared with Jet2.com. You will be asked to sign and return a 'Disclosure of Information' form prior to attending the Selection Day. This form confirms that you are giving us permission to share information between the two organisations.
Candidates may be asked to leave the course if their behaviour is unprofessional or unacceptable or if they do not meet the standards required to complete the programme.
We ask you to sign this form to ensure you have read and understand the minimum requirements that are essential requirements for anyone who is going to potentially be employed at a later date by Jet2.com. This checklist ensures you are able to meet all the elements prior to spending time and money on attending the Selection Day and course. If you require any clarification, please just ask.
